There are multiple Pros & Cons. Positives: 1. It's the best hospital for Emergency cases as you'll find a doctor 24×7 2. Best Doctor's in most departments practice here, so for OPDs it's one of the best. 3. Cabines are Spacious & quite economical Negatives: 1. The Hospital has 3 Buildings but the Operation Theatre ( OT), NICU, &ICU, all are located in the old Building (No.1). 2. Other than for Emergencies & OPDs the New Building (No. 3) is worthless. As my son had prebirth & was of low weight he was kept in the NICU, located in the 1st Building. Our cabin was in the 6th floor of the 3rd building. For regular feeding my wife had to cross over 3 buildings on the wheelchair, after a C/section Operation, even at midnight. Just imagine her experience. So we later shifted to the Old building (No. 1). Found a more spacious room with an extra guest room, but at the same cost! Patients' beds are also more sophisticated, in comparison to the New Building (No. 3) So a simple advice, particularly for Gynae. Department Patients (IPD). Book cabins in the Old building (No.1) Also for the Hospital's administration: An OT alongwith atleast an NICU is very much required in the New Building (No.3)

Recently my husband had a permanent pace-maker implanted. Highly commend the work of the Cardiology Department esp. Dr Indra Kuladhipati and his team throughout the entire process of surgery, recovery and review phase. The advice, guidance and support nursed my husband and bounced him back to good health- stronger at the Heart.❤️🩹

Everything was going great until I came across a man in the OPD cash counter at Building no.3. Dated 16th October 2025 day time. He was very arrogant and rude. I did not expect this kind of behaviour. He could not even interprets the English being spoken to him and instead shouted at me. I suppose front desks people should be fluent in English, Hindi and Assamese in a reputable hospital like Downtown hospital. It does not kill to be polite and kind to others, especially in the hospital when attendants and patients are in a stressed condition. Kindly make sure he gets proper guidance on how to deal with patients and their attendants without being a rude cashier. Besides that, the other staffs at building 1 and the Doctors were all very polite and helpful. The canteen lady in building 1 was very sweet and so were the pharmacists in both building 1 and 3.. they were all helpful and polite.

The Orthopedics and Physiotherapy department is the best. I am relieved of my age old low back pain with the treatment of Dr. Iran Bharali and excellent physiotherapy care given by Dr. Prajal Gogoi and his team. They are extremely caring and I express my heartfelt gratitude to the entire team.

The waiting time at the sample collection counter in the Laboratory is considerably high. Patients often arrive on an empty stomach for their tests, and the prolonged delay becomes difficult for them to manage. The primary reason appears to be a shortage of staff at the collection centre, which leads to unnecessary waiting. However, it is important to note that the establishment has highly experienced and professional staff, and the overall service quality is commendable. Strengthening the sample collection team or improving workflow management would significantly enhance the patient experience and reduce waiting time.

The reception staff in Building 3 were not professional in their conduct. They appeared inexperienced and handled the situation in a disorganized and loud manner, which created unnecessary disturbance. The male staff member at the OPD cash counter, in particular, displayed inappropriate behaviour and poor coordination. In comparison, the reception staff at GMCH are significantly more efficient, courteous, and professional. While the hospital has a good reputation, such behaviour from staff negatively affects its image and patient experience.

We visited Dr. D.J. Datta and were very satisfied with him. But the staff member sitting beside the cash counter, especially that one receptionist was very rude and disrespectful. She clearly doesn't know how to behave with an elderly person. First of all, unlike other hospitals, there's no separate counter for CGHS patients, which causes unnecessary inconvenience. And secondly, to make things even worse the receptionist seemed completely unaware of the process. She needs proper guidance. It's unfortunate that you've hired such oversmart people who end up making the whole experience unpleasant.

Don’t go to Downtown Hospital, they only know how to take money, before Payment they are very well behave, but after the payment thier behaviour has been suddenly change, taking so many time for all test as like as some government Hospital, staffs gossiping with each other but when you go and ask staff how much time will take, then they show that they are very busy, disgusting experience.. never suggest to anyone to go downtown, never and ever. Wasting money..
