It was rare opportunity to visit the film studio on the occasion of Guwahati Asian Film Festival. We enjoyed some award winning movies across two days. This place is built to promote offbeat cinema and create awareness about documentary films. They provide courses also in film making. During the festival we were able to meet prominent film critics and directors of Assam. Along with my wife, I enjoyed few very good Assamese productions viz. Rodor pakhi, Noir kotha,Gos Kota Manuh, Kok Kokok, etc. There were couple of Asian short films we managed to watch. All these films were screened in two of Jyoti Chitraban's prominent auditoriums i.e. Bishnu Rabha and Rudra Barua.

Most unhygienic toilets. Make up rooms are dirty. Woth no lights. The buildings are not weell maintained. It's all dirty. That's not the way how a Art Facility should be maintained, that too from tax payers money. At least they should have the dignity to keep the respect of Jyoti Prasad Agarwal. Jyoti means light , but i guess they want to remove the light. No point in having personal fancy cabins and keeping the other avenues in their worst form. Few years back the world suffered from covid and awareness on hygeine was emphasised. But , these so called protectors want the society to rot. The washrooms are a hub for INFECTION. Please, if you really want the future of Assamese Cinema to evolve and for the betterment of healthy artists and crew members. Please wake up.

Jyoti Chitraban, established by the Government of Assam in 1961, is a remarkable film studio located at Kahilipara, set against the scenic foothills of the Narakasur Hills. Spread across 10 acres, it’s often referred to as the film city of Assam, and visiting here feels like stepping into the heart of Assamese cinema. 🎬 The studio grounds are spacious and beautifully maintained, with plenty of areas to explore. Walking around, you get a sense of Assam’s rich film history and the legacy of countless movies created here. The scenic backdrop adds charm and makes it a perfect spot for photography. The staff and guides are friendly and provide useful insights about the studio’s history and operations. Even if you’re not a filmmaker, the studio is fascinating for tourists, students, and anyone interested in cinema. Overall, Jyoti Chitraban is a must-visit for film enthusiasts and culture lovers alike. It’s not just a studio – it’s a heritage site that celebrates Assam’s contribution to cinema. – Priyanuj Hazarika (Local Guide)

Nice film studio. Jyoti chitranbon is nostalgia for every assamese. it is a studio where all best equipments are available... And it's a govt studio...which run by Govt of Assam. Jyoti chitraban's location was in a ideal place and it has it's own proper parking spots. The hall was amazing . But though the hall is small but it still outstanding. Film audition / Film sceen is shoot here.
