Experience shared for awareness (2019 purchase) This is not just a review, but an experience I feel people should know. In 2019, I purchased two outfits from Manyavar, Rudraksh Mall ; one traditional sherwani-style outfit with dhoti-type pajama and another coat–pant set for my marriage reception. At that time, I didn’t have much experience with premium ethnic wear, and Manyavar seemed like a reputed and reliable partywear brand. During the trial, both outfits felt a little tight, especially the coat. I was assured by the staff that this was a normal size issue and that all fittings would be done properly after payment, which is standard for such brands. Trusting their reputation, I went ahead and paid around ₹15,000 for both outfits. I was asked to collect the fitted clothes by evening. When I returned, the outfits did technically fit my body but the method used for fitting shocked me. Instead of proper tailoring: The inner lining of the coat was torn The fit was achieved by forcefully adjusting and shifting buttons Sleeves were not properly ironed The torn inner portion was left unfinished and visible In simple words, it felt like the outfit was damaged to make it “fit”, not tailored. When I raised the issue and requested an exchange or a proper solution, my request was completely declined. The justification given was that: The outfit was already altered as per my body “This is how Manyavar fittings are done” That explanation was deeply disappointing. Till today, the coat remains the same. I feel genuinely uncomfortable wearing it at any occasion, knowing that it is internally torn and poorly altered. It feels less like premium clothing and more like a showpiece from the outside only. As we say in Assamese: “Bahire Rangsangia, Vitore Kuavhaturi.” (Beautiful on the outside, hollow and damaged inside.) After this incident, I personally advised several friends and acquaintances not to go for Manyavar, especially if they expect quality tailoring and post-purchase responsibility. This review is not written out of anger, but out of honest disappointment and to help others make an informed decision.
