Amchang Wildlife Sanctuary

This wildlife sanctuary is situated adjacent to Guwahati. It comprises an area of about 79 square kms. There is a waterfall and a tea estate within the sanctuary so this happens to be a good place for hiking as well as for nature lovers. The most common animal found inhabiting this area is elephants. The irony of this sanctuary is that being located in close proximity to Guwahati it faces the eminent threat of encroachment. If the concerned authorities do take a tough stand the area would lose it's forest cover and become the dwelling site of illegal settlers.

We went there for a mini picnic..we got a nice and quite place in middle of the tea gardens. it was peaceful..clean place.

Calm forest....even though situated in nearby city

U can't enter this place, because its come under forest department under amchang wildlife sanctuary...
