ASG Eye Hospital Guwahati (Paltan Bazar)

Extremely disappointing experience at ASG Eye Hospital, Paltan Bazar — especially regarding billing and front desk conduct. To be fair, the doctors were good and the surgery went well. We are satisfied with the medical treatment provided. However, despite the procedure being under a cashless insurance policy, we were forced to pay a large advance before surgery. We were clearly told that the surgery would not proceed without payment. This completely defeats the purpose of cashless insurance and puts unnecessary financial pressure on patients’ families. When we repeatedly asked for clarification about the billing and insurance settlement, the front desk staff were dismissive and unprofessional. Instead of providing clear answers, one staff member abruptly handed the file to a colleague and walked away while making dismissive remarks. It appeared that basic billing queries could not be properly addressed. Although the final bill was later adjusted and a refund marked, no proper refund documentation was provided at discharge — only a handwritten note. For a reputed hospital, this lack of transparency and professionalism is unacceptable. Good doctors alone are not enough — administrative transparency and respectful communication are equally important. I hope the management seriously reviews their cashless billing practices and staff training.

I visited the hospital for a regular eye check and had a very disappointing experience in terms of the patient services. While I would not comment on the treatment quality, since I walked out from the hospital without undergoing the consultation. I was not impressed by the unprofessional and slow service standards. Although I understand there will be a requisite wait time in hospitals, and accordingly I visited early morning and was the first or second visitor to register at the reception. Being a weekday, it becomes challenging for working professionals to spend long hours outside work. Looking at the great reviews about the hospital, I had a high expectation about the service standards. However, I had to wait close to around 1.5 hours and still I was waiting for the doctor. Around 10:30 am I was told to apply an eye drop and again wait for an hour for consultation. I was aware that eye drops are generally applied so that eyes can be dilated before the doctor's check up. My complain was... why wait till 10:30 am for the eye drop.. It could have been decided earlier, so that we could have saved on some time. There was no response from the staff.. not even apologetic for their slow service standards. Disappointed... I left the hospital without undergoing the check up.

I went this hospital yesterday for my wife. After examination they told us to do an USG. They took Rs.2800/- for this. They didn’t provide the report except images. Then they suggested to do CT scan and blood test to Healcare Diagnostic. They told me that the charge will be Rs.12000/-. We go back from there and consult with another doctor. The doctor gave some simple medicine for only Rs.500/-. My wife is fine now and getting well. Asg eye hospital misguided us and loot our hard earned money. I ll never recommend this hospital to others.

I really liked the service... Doctors- Very qualified and behaviour is very much appreciated. They are concerned about the patient. And even listen to the patient what patient is exactly facing problem or what they are wanting... And clarifies all the doubts of a patient. Treatment- Satisfied so far. Ambience - Neat and clean and very spacious Staff- good behaviour and helpful Councelling cell- staff of councelling cell is really helpful Washroom- Clean and separate washrooms for males and females. I must add one thing the process to meet a consultant is quite long... Its bit time taking cz they used to go for different types of tests before meeting the doctor... So sometimes it is bit difficult for elderly people or the people coming from far places, which I exactly faced... Otherwise all's good...

Having all uptodate medical examination facilities with experienced and high qualified doctors, the hospital is patient and attendant friendly in the centre of Guwahati City. Car parking facilities are provided.

It was a good experience while visiting eye hospital, they charge 400 rps for dr appointment. They have good amount of staff and eye specialist. Hospital is very neat and clean, they do lasik operation also.

Visited today (22/10/2025) the ASG Paltan Bazar Branch, Guwahati, Assam, for my father's eye check up, who is suffering from Primary Glucoma and Cataract. The staffs behaviour was very good. The consulting Dr. Sagarmoy Purkayastha's is very calm and polite person, which makes the patient comfortable. Doctor advises operation for catatact and prescribe some eye drops. The only minus point we have experienced was that the Clinic does not provide any carry bag to carry Prescription file, money receipts, test reports and medicines when purchased from the in house pharmacy. Due to non providing of carry bag patients are seen facing problem in carrying the prescription file and medicines etc. Many patients present there also told us about this service lacking on the part of ASG. All other leading and reputed general clinic/hospital in Guwahati are providing eco friendly carry bags to its patients for convenience. The ASG authority is requested to start providing carry bags to patients immediately to comfortably carry prescription file, money receipts, reports and medicines purchased in their pharmacy.

ASG Eye Hospital in Paltan Bazar offers a basic eye checkup for 500 Rs, which is reasonable. Inside, there is a pharmacy with eye drops and other eye care products, along with a specs and eyeglasses shop where you can purchase glasses, including options with Zeiss lenses. Overall, it’s a convenient place for eye care needs with a decent range of services and products.
