As per my family’s advice, we consulted the physician on 4th January 2026. During the consultation, the doctor did not actively ask about the patient’s symptoms or problems; instead, we had to explain all the issues ourselves. After the first consultation, the doctor advised us to undergo several investigations, including a CT scan, endoscopy, and laboratory tests. Accordingly, we completed the CT scan and laboratory investigations at Downtown Hospital, and on the following day, the endoscopy was done at Apollo Hospital. When we returned for the follow-up consultation, the doctor became angry because all investigations were not done at Apollo Hospital. He insisted that the CT scan be repeated. At that moment, I informed him that the CT scan had already been done the previous day and that the report included a clear patient impression. However, the doctor did not review or even look at the existing reports and, without assessing them, again advised us to repeat the CT scan. If we had not personally informed him about the patient’s condition and recent medical findings, he would not have been aware of the patient’s current disease status. As a medical professional myself, I am aware that it is the responsibility of a physician to carefully review all available reports and then initiate treatment based on those findings. Advising repeated investigations without reviewing existing reports is neither appropriate nor patient-centered. I was extremely disappointed by the doctor’s behavior, lack of communication, and unwillingness to review already completed investigations. Such an approach caused unnecessary stress, confusion, and potential financial burden for the patient and family.

This review is for Dr Arvind Kelkar , Gastroenterologist .On 25th December 2025, I had severe vomitting issue early morning with loose motion .By 7 am in the morning , I went to a small nearby hospital but unfortunately doctors were not available due to Christmas .I then called up Apollo Customer care number and they fixed an appointment with Dr Arvind Kelkar between 9:30am to 10 am .I visited Apollo on time ,and paid the consultation fees of Rs 900/- .When my turn came , I entered his chamber .I described in details about my condition to Dr Arvind Kelkar and he did examine me on the examination table ( pressing the abdomen only ).He then asked me to come by 9 am the next morning for an endoscopy and sigmoidoscopy and asked me to do an ultrasound at a nearby diagnostic centre called Matrix.I specifically informed him I was not in a position to go for endoscopy and sigmoidoscopy since I was very weak after the vomitting episode and feeling nauseated.I even told him I was not comfortable with sigmoidoscopy without sedation as the procedure involves medical exam by inserting a thin, lighted tube (sigmoidoscope) to view the rectum and lower part of the colon .I even informed him that I had done a colonscopy earlier by another doctor who happened to be his team member and there was no abnormality found .Then and there in a very rude tone , he asked me to consult with the other doctor .I politely requested him to atleast give me some medicines to stop my vomitting and loose motion .The moment he heard my request , he scolded me using the word "IDIOT" ( burbak is the exact word he used) and straight informed me on my face that he cannot recommend any treatment without doing endoscopy and sigmoidoscopy .He just wrote a gas tablet Razo 20 on the recommended test list advice paper.I was shocked at his behaviour .I came out of his chamber and really lost my mind .An aged doctor like him with a DM degree was not expected to exhibit such inhumane behaviour .As I was not feeling well , I though it was better for me not to take up the issue further with the doctor and went to a nearby hospital "Dispur Hospital" where I was fortunate enough to meet a kind young doctor who diagnosed my case as stomach infection and food poisioning .I was immediately put on IV drips , antibiotic infusion along with Pan 40 and anti vomitting injection .I was informed I was severely dehydrated. After taking the IV drips, I was feeling much better .I also completed the course of antibiotic tablets and other medicines as prescribed by the doctor .And here I am recovered well.Had I followed Dr Arvind Kelkar's advice , I would have collapsed on that day .I even donot understand whether Dr Kelkar had the requisite knowledge to understand if I was dehydrated and weak, and whether I would be able to perform endoscopy and sigmoidoscopy .On top of the that , using word like Idiot to a patient is unethical , inhumane and unjustified .The doctor forgot the very simple fact that empathy shown by a doctor is also a part of the healing process for the patient .However in every profession there is a black sheep and I do have to acknowledge that there are some wonderful doctors at Apollo.

I don't consider him a good doctor. He doesn't try to listen patients's problems properly. I am quite disappointed to have visited him; discontinued his medicines after use of 7 days. A big loss of money and time. If I had noticed reviews before visiting him, I would not have visited him. Disappointed, frustrated, and paranoid.

Worst doctor, always after money. He have prescribed unnecessary medications to my sister in law because of which she has suffered a lot. Now, after consulting other physician she is in a much better state.

Worst doctor I've ever met. No respect even for elderly people. Behaviour is rude, insulting and dehumanising. When patients pay so much money they deserve to be treated with respect. Surely Apollo hospitals must have some principles. Why allow such a poorly rated doctor to tarnish the world -class image of the group?

Probably the worst doctor in Guwahati. Please don't go to him. He will traumatize and harass you for money. A Very money minded and rude person who should stop practicing medicine. He isn't fir to be a doctor. I complained to Apollo Guwahati authorities about him but sadly so proper action was taken. PS - if u want your patient to recover then please don't go to him.

When a doctor screams in front of the patient and directly tells the patient that he/she is going to die in a certain time period, don't know what mentality the patient will be going through. Not only this, he also had the guts to tell that if you don't have money, don't bring your patient here in Apollo hospital. Such people don't deserve to be called as doctors, whom, instead, are always portrayed as life saviours.
