Please note: My google review keeps getting suppressed or not visible, which raises concern. My dearest aunt passed away under the care of Dr. Prashant Kumar Rai after what began as a day-care ERCP, after his OPD assurance that the risks were manageable. The first ERCP caused a perforation, and a second attempt was also unsuccessful, leading to 20 days of hospitalisation. What followed raised serious concerns: inconsistent decisions, delays in involving specialists despite her known conditions. Instead of taking proactive responsibility, he often deflected blame to her pre-existing conditions or even to the family. The stark difference between her photo before admission and after speaks for itself. He reduced a genuine neurology request to a billing remark and suggested a CT “for documentation purposes” on the day of her passing without explaining any clinical benefit or safety. Beyond medical lapses, there was a lack of basic human decency - not a word of condolence or acknowledgement of our loss, despite being the primary treating doctor for 20 days. We left not only with a bill exceeding ₹11 lakhs, but with the irreparable loss of a life beyond measure. Waiving his fees, which were not significant in the context, does not offset his responsibilities as a doctor. This is not written in anger or to vilify Dr. Rai, but because of what I directly witnessed that no family should have to face. For others reading this: let it be a reminder that glowing reviews can be misleading.

Kindly read this carefully before deciding to avail Dr Rai's service for GI related issues. We chose Dr. Prashant Kumar Rai for my aunt’s common bile duct stone removal because of the hospital’s reputation and his google reviews as well. All her pre-existing conditions were disclosed. She was stable and had previously tolerated major procedures like hip replacement and pacemaker implantation without issues. At the OPD consultation, Dr. Rai said the risks were manageable and advised proceeding with ERCP. During the first ERCP, a GI perforation occurred. He then proceeded with a second ERCP to attempt closure. This too failed. What hurt us most was not only the complication, but the lack of holistic approach in post-ERCP care. We understand risks exist. But risks demand judgment, skill, and coordination, and this is where we feel the failure happened, contributing to her eventual passing. What began as a 50–60k procedure ended in a bill of over 11 lakhs. Whether or not Dr. Rai waived his consultation fees is irrelevant, it does not absolve him of responsibility as a doctor. No cost compares to losing our vibrant, loving aunt. For the doctor, this may be just one more case, but for us it is an irreplaceable life. Out of respect, I will not share images of the stark decline we witnessed, but it remains etched in our grief. I share this not out of anger, but so others can make informed choices. Based on our experience, I cannot say that Dr. Rai demonstrates the proficiency or critical judgment required in such situations.

I had a fantastic experience with Dr. Rai .They were incredibly thorough in explaining my condition and took the time to answer all my questions without rushing me. Their calm and compassionate approach made me feel at ease, especially since I was quite anxious about my symptoms. The treatment plan was effective, and I’ve been feeling much better since. Highly recommend Dr. Rai for anyone dealing with gastrointestinal issues.
