Passport Seva Kendra, Guwahati

As a student I applied for a Tatkal passport, as I was searching for the passport verification process on youtube I found out that we cannot complete the process in one day. But when I physically visited the place and asked for it, the officials helped me a lot and they were very helpful. Even the workers and security guards were also helpful. They have their own Photostat machine and canteen. I was able complete all the processes in less than 3 hours. Near the building you can find internet cafes for any online related work.

They dont allow people to get inside prior to appointment time and there is no sitting arrangement available for people outside . I was accompanied by my mother who is a senior citizen and she had to stand almost 2 hrs outside the office entrance!! The professionalism of the staff in reception counter and A counter in the first floor are really appreciative however I have visited twice for my paasport re issuance and founder counter number C vacant boty the days due to which I had to wait for a long time to complete the procedure!!

I applied for a Tatkal passport expecting faster processing, but my application was still sent for pre-police verification, which is causing delay. Since I paid an extra ₹2000 for Tatkal service, I expected a quicker process, but there seems to be no real benefit. Also, during my visit, my token number was earlier but I was asked to wait and applicants who came later were processed before me. This did not feel fair. At the B2 counter, the staff behavior was not very professional. It seemed that some applicants were treated more politely than others. All applicants should be treated equally and the token order should be followed properly. I hope the passport office improves transparency in the Tatkal process and ensures fair treatment for everyone.

The overall experience at PSK Guwahati was excellent. Applicants are called strictly as per their allotted time slots, ensuring time punctuality and a well-organised process, regardless of the physical queue. The staff were courteous, professional, and very helpful at every stage. They maintained efficiency without compromising on individual attention. My application for a fresh passport was completed in under two hours. The entire process—from entry, document verification, biometrics, to final submission—was smooth, timely, and hassle-free. Highly satisfied with the professionalism, punctuality, and quality of service provided.

The service of Counter A is fast but B and C counter is too slow. Don’t know even though the appointment is booked and the time slot is provided why they simply keep people waiting. The young age person sitting in B3 counter doesn’t have any basic etiquette how to talk to elders. He address everyone with a very disrespecting tone. Like “Tum aao” Tum ye dikhao Tum ye nahi laye, Tum jao Baith jao. He is too young, just doing public service doesn’t give him right to say elders like that. The APO has kept a security guard at the Feedback kiosk and they are ensuring that only positive feedback should be provided. I Request MEA to check the waiting time for this PSK. I had to spend 3 hours just to learn from counter C that EPIC voter id is not considered as valid Address proof and they asked me to rebook appointment after getting by Aadhar updated and come back. Pathetic service.

Office is not senior citizen friendly and they harassed my father citing unnecessary documents verification. Office is not friendly for Assamese people. There are no proper language interpreter support and due to which miscommunication happened. They mocked at my father (a respected central government officer) infront of everyone and the behaviour was hurtful. IF YOU ARE A PROVEN INDIAN CITIZEN YOU ARE RIGHTFUL OWNER OF A PASSPORT. They don’t know the meaning of SEVA. Very bad service being it a public service office. Office amenities lack many major facilities like parking space.

Service is fast and efficient.... But remember to carry the e verified single page adhaar card downloaded from adhaar website.... Else the nearby shops charge Rs. 80 just for that.... A bit too pricy.... Better download the same in phone and forward to them for a printout..

Overall has been a decent experience barring the fact that we had to wait for ages, when you say the appointment is for 12.45 or 12.30, why don't you get the job done then and there? Made to wait longer than doctor's queues!!
