Pork in Bamboo Shoot Thali - Rs.230 Smoked Beef Thali - Rs.250 Naga Food, Umran, Ri-Bhoi Naga $$ 13.07.24 Today being a holiday I decided to go for a drive with Meva to Umran & have lunch at @naga_food_umran_ which was recommended to me many months ago by my cousin @j_answer_17 . I wanted to avoid the Dam so I took the VIP road. The road was in a bad state & took double the time. When we reached it was already 4:30pm. We stepped inside this very dhaba looking eatery by the side of the Highway. It had basic chairs & tables. The place was filled with customers & seemed to be popular. It is run by a Lotha lady & an Assamese man. We asked for the menu but there wasn't one. So we asked what was available & while I decided on a Pork in Bamboo Shoot Thali, Meva got the smoked Beef Thali. After ordering, Meva noticed the traditional Naga metal plates, & this was the first time I'm seeing one. We requested the waiter if we could be served in them but he said they were only for display. The owner came by at that moment & seeing our disappointed faces, told his staff to serve our food in them. Our spirits were lifted just like how these naga plates were. The food arrived & looked special in those plates. Each plate had 12 items; rice, dal, 4 pcs of meat, shrimp, 5 veg dishes, 2 chutneys & salad. This really looked like a proper thali. I tried the pork & the meat was of very good quality. The cuts were perfect. Even the smoked Beef was excellent with the meat not being stringy. Each & every item on the thali was delicious. This was a very happy meal. Totally worth the drive & the 4hrs traffic later. The ambience may not be much but the service, the food & the price was excellent. I especially love the number of sides they gave. Definitely recommend it to anyone who longs for some tasty Naga food on the way to Guwahati. Instagram ID - kari.on.eats

The place only had Thali system where they will provide rice mix vegetable dal and papad

Not really a naga authentic food but eatable. And very dirty. Both the kitchen and the utensils and the tables. They can improve alot If they improve, they can really do well as the location is on the highway and tourist cross by on a daily basis..
