Sri Sri Ganesh Mandir is a revered temple located at Botahghuli near Panjabari, Guwahati. Just a five-minute walk from the Panjabari city bus stop, the temple is nestled at the foothills of Botahghuli, offering a calm and pristine environment for devotees. What makes this temple unique is that Lord Ganesha is worshipped here in the form of a Shila, a naturally formed stone considered sacred by the devotees. This natural manifestation adds a special spiritual significance to the temple, attracting worshippers who believe in the divine power Lord Ganesha. The temple sees a steady flow of visitors throughout the year, with large gatherings during Ganesh Chaturthi when special rituals, prayers, and cultural programs are organized. Beyond its religious importance, the temple provides a peaceful retreat to the city dwellers. Easily accessible yet tucked away from the city’s noise, Sri Sri Ganesh Mandir in Panjabari stands as a cherished spiritual destination in Guwahati—blending faith, nature, and tranquility in a unique way.

The one who come first, The one who is respected by all, the one who love and care for all, he is the Lord. Sri Sri Ganeshayah Namah. Background (as I remember): There are many theories about GOD. For I believe my GOD is my belief in his miracles and love. This particular area was a bunch of big and small stones where the water from the opposite hill use to pass through till early 1990-92. Later due to increasing population in the area this area stayed dry most part of the year and sand deposit started to hid the stones. You all might have seen OMG movie where Paresh Rawal lies to the crowd that today lord Krishna is taking milk. What happens next? Well, not same but this story presents a little hint to this temple's today's physical structure. As a Kid, I have seen people keeping the area very clean as always but not until one day on a Ganesh Chaturthi I heard lots of noise outside.. came out to witness a Miracle! The very stones that were my friends to play with in the hot sun... One particular was actually drying out all the milk that was available that day in the area. There was a sea of people, smoke from incense sticks and light from earth lamps all around. I quote" The Big stone that resembled a fun grown elephant with a proper mouth area was drying liters of milk that the people were touching to it. Yes Touching, not pouring.. I could not believe and brought a glass of water from my home and poured on the stone slowly, to my shock .. the water just moved down did not got soaked up. The body of the lord was just dry and he was drinking milk from his mouth" Importance (to me): There happened to be a lot of wild life around this place as it was near the forest area. The hill provided a perfect background. Lots of birds and animals. Lots of big trees around. Why I say this here is because now its all gone due to human exploitation of our forests and this was the last place I found Nature. My GOD to me is still my friend..the stone that I played with. The surroundings that made me, filled me. The Importance of this particular Ganesh Temple for me is the remembrance of our beautiful raw nature which has loved us all back in kind and peace. We fined in here that peace of oneness with nature, that's a true Hindu temple to me. Sit inside the temple and you will feel all that past. May be he is a reminder of human progress that lost a bit of heart nearby. Many people have tried a lot to keep the area clean and green.. a meeting place for the Batahghuli locality and a destination for all who needs his prayers answered. I believe in this Temple's power to give peace to all who seeks. Now Ganesh Chaturthi is a day when all come together from morning to night for prayers and a free lunch for all with open hearts. This day we celebrate as memory of the great power that is with us for ever. I pray to my friend. the Lord that anyone like me finds a true friend and get blessed with his love and miracles.

Beautiful temple. Recent construction is going on to expand its structure. Also serves as an identity to the locality. Clean area. Located at a foot-hill kind of area. Ganesh puja is a must attend. Held every year In January on ganesh chaturthi..a day before Saraswati puja. Community food is prepared and served for free to all and any. Puja starts from early morning on this particular day and a cultural night is organised that day or next day. Its campus has a field, a stage, one pre-primary school, recreation center...community meetings and functions are held here only.
