An Assamese enthinic place in Guwahati having both a restaurant and a shop selling local good, mostly food stuff. Had chicken thali ( local country chicken). Food was good and tasty. Local side dishes were worth trying. Small place which can accommodate about 10 to 12 persons at a time. Price is reasonable. Also tried Red Tea which was served with jaggery. It was OK.

My partner and I visited ‘Tholgiri’ on September 15, 2025 (Monday). One needs to visit this cafe-cum-eatery to get a glimpse of the richness of Assamese culture. While we ordered only Red Tea, we loved the ambience and the collection of traditional Assamese food items and artefacts. On our way out, we bought one (1) packet of Beet Assamese Pitha. When we tasted the Pitha, we found the taste awesome. The service was outstanding and the ambience was simply phenomenal. We shall be visiting this place for a proper meal soon enough!

Tholgiri Restaurant OverviewTholgiri in Latasil, Uzan Bazar, Guwahati, stands out as a celebrated ethnic restaurant delivering authentic Assamese cuisine in a culturally rich, cozy setting that blends heritage with contemporary touches.Cuisine and Must-TriesThe menu focuses on traditional, simple, flavorful dishes made with organic local ingredients, including local chicken curry, duck curry, desserts, and a selection of teas. I often visit specifically for the traditional Singpho falap tea, which is prepared authentically and adds a special cultural touch to every meal. Vegetarian options are available alongside non-veg specialties, emphasizing home-style pakghar-like flavors rather than fine dining.Ambiance and ServicesExpect a casual, immersive vibe perfect for cultural dining, with dine-in, delivery, takeout, and no-contact options, plus free parking. It accepts credit/debit cards and NFC mobile payments, with moderate pricing around ₹200-₹400 per person, making it ideal for experiencing Assamese traditions without large events or kids' parties. Highly recommended for an authentic taste of local heritage!

If you are a fan of traditional Assamese food items, then Tholgiri is the right place for you. It’s a boutique restaurant with the availability of a good variety of traditional raw items. Some of them are Assamese Black Rice, Red Rice, Joha Rice, different varieties of Dal, Black Dal, Bamboo Shoot, different varieties of Jaggery including Liquid Jaggery, Dry Fish and many more. The interesting part is their menu of Pitha and Ladu (traditional Assamese sweets). In their restaurant menu, they have different varieties of traditional Assamese Thalies. My partner had I went there to have tea. Surprisingly, they charged only Rs. 10 per cup in their AC restaurant. I also bought a box of Rice Pitha which was Rs. 180.

The place is located near latasil field, and is easily accessible. The service was top notch, and the atmosphere was mesmerising, it will remind you of the early house of Assam and North East. You can have a variety of food here, and it is budget friendly as well. The tholgiri veg thali here provides authentic Assamese dishes, which you will surely love it, along with it we had duck curry, it was excellent and two people can easily share it. Just that the quality of rice was disappointing, and it was cooked more as well. Otherwise everything was perfect.

If you are looking for authentic Assamese cuisine, this hotel is the perfect place. They serve traditional dishes prepared with a true Assamese touch—whether it’s pork, fish, chicken, or mutton, every item is blended beautifully with the flavors of Assam. What makes the experience even better is the availability of Assamese jalpan, which gives a complete homely feel. For anyone who loves the essence of Assamese household meals, this place offers a truly delightful and satisfying experience.

A nice place to experience local Assamese cuisine. Traditional Assamese thalis , tea , snacks , sweets are available here and also one can purchase different kinds of local rice, snacks items & clothes etc. from this place. We tried local chicken thali , veg thali with mushroom, tea and pitha. All are decent in taste but service was slow.

Awesome place to try Assamese thali. I loved every single dish of their thali. Veg and Non veg thali available. Bit costly, but I found it worth the amount. It is a house - converted to restaurant, on 1st floor. Spices, tea, earrings , fridge magnets, etc available at the store at entrance. There are only limited seats - 2 or 3 tables in total.
