Had done river rafting in the morning. Totally worth it. The landscape is so beautiful. The river ride is more or less smooth with very little mild rapids. Can see many birds around. Its very quiet and a smooth ride.

A must if someone wants to visit tranquil greens and hills in Assam. It’s an underrated paradise in a single phrase. One can plan a day trip based from Tezpur or Biswanath Town. Or can enjoy 2/3 days of stay in the resorts around the buffer zone. Safari rides, river rafting, other camping activities are available.

Unexplored safari. Safari starts from October, after monsoon has left the country. Option for a relaxing river rafting nearby. If planned to visit, keep 3-4 hours in hand for the safari.

If Kaziranga is the Bollywood superstar of Assam’s wildlife scene, the Nameri National Park is the indie darling — low-key, soulful, and utterly enchanting. Tucked away in the Sonitpur district, this 200 sq km paradise is the perfect escape for those who love dense forests, chirping birds, and a healthy dose of “OMG, is that a hornbill?” Situated along the misty banks of the Jia Bhoroli river, Nameri is not your typical jeep-safari jungle. No sir, this one makes you walk the talk — literally. It’s one of the few protected forests in India where trekking is allowed, making you feel less like a tourist and more like Mowgli’s long-lost cousin. Fun Facts That’ll Make You Want to Pack Your Binocs - Nameri is part of the Nameri Tiger Reserve, and while tigers are elusive here (they clearly value privacy), the thrill of spotting one is real. - The White-winged Wood Duck, one of the rarest ducks in the world (and quite the fashionista of the avian world), calls this park home. - With over 300 species of birds, this is a legit paradise for ornithologists, birders, and confused tourists who think every bird is a “sparrow”. - The park shares a border with Pakhui Wildlife Sanctuary of Arunachal Pradesh, forming a bio-diverse corridor so rich, even David Attenborough would tip his hat. Adventure With a Side of Serenity Want to spice things up? Rafting down the Jia Bhoroli is pure bliss. It’s not white-water crazy, but it gives you just the right amount of splash to feel adventurous. And did I mention elephant sightings, giant squirrels, and the occasional python cameo*? -Jungle Review: Nameri isn’t just a park, it’s a poem — written in green, sung by birds, and narrated by the wind. Whether you’re chasing butterflies or inner peace, this is the jungle that gently hugs your soul. Final Verdict: Wild, serene, and refreshingly under-hyped. Nameri is where you lose your stress and find your spirit animal.
