Traveling from Silchar Airport to Udarbond by four-wheeler was a refreshing and peaceful experience. The entire stretch feels like a beautiful escape from crowded metro city life. What makes this journey special is the uninterrupted greenery, open skies, and calm surroundings. The roads pass through lush vegetation, small villages, and open natural landscapes that instantly relax the mind. Unlike busy urban highways, this route feels slow, breathable, and close to nature. There are long patches of green fields and trees on both sides, with very few buildings and almost no pollution. The air feels cleaner, and the overall environment is soothing. It is ideal for people who enjoy simple natural beauty rather than commercial tourist spots. During the drive, I captured several photos and videos because the scenery keeps changing — from tree-lined roads to open stretches with distant hills and scattered homes. The area looks less populated and more grounded in traditional lifestyle. You can also see local movement, small roadside activity, and natural water bodies in between, which adds to the charm. The journey is comfortable by car, and the road connectivity is fairly smooth. It’s not just a commute — it feels like a visual experience. If someone is visiting Assam and wants to see a greener and quieter side away from city rush, this route is worth noticing. Overall, it’s a peaceful, scenic, and refreshing travel stretch. Highly recommended for nature lovers, photographers, and anyone who appreciates simplicity and greenery.

Silchar Airport, a defence-operated airport, typically operates from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM. Located 15 km from Silchar city, it offers flights to Kolkata and Guwahati. While taxis are available, online cab services like Ola, Uber, and Rapido are not. Only indigo operates there flight here.

Silchar Airport is a small but very well-managed airport that offers a smooth and comfortable travel experience. The airport is clean, organized, and easy to navigate, which makes the entire process—from entry to boarding—quite convenient. The staff are polite, helpful, and professional. Security checks and check-in procedures are generally quick, and the overall environment feels calm compared to larger, crowded airports. The waiting area is decent, with adequate seating and basic facilities for passengers.

Silchar Airport is a very good airport with clean facilities and a comfortable environment. The staff here are very supportive, polite, and always ready to help passengers, which makes the travel experience smooth. One small suggestion: the airport currently opens at 6:30 AM, but it would be more convenient for passengers if it opened at 6:00 AM, especially for early morning travelers.

Small airport with limited amenities. However this airport is vital, considering air connectivity of Barak Valley region with rest of Assam. There is scope for expansion of this Airport. Requesting Civil Aviation authorities to look into it.

Silchar Airport, officially known as Kumbhirgram Airport, serves as a vital aviation hub for southern Assam and the surrounding Barak Valley region. Located about 22 kilometers from Silchar town, the airport plays an important role in connecting this remote part of Northeast India with major cities across the country. The airport is operated by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and functions as a civil enclave within an Indian Air Force base. Despite its strategic military importance, the civilian terminal is well-organized and efficient. It offers essential passenger facilities such as clean waiting areas, basic food counters, restrooms, and assistance desks. Security arrangements are strict yet smooth, ensuring safe travel for passengers. Silchar Airport has regular flights to cities like Kolkata, Guwahati, and Imphal, making it a key link for business travelers, students, and tourists. The runway is capable of handling narrow-body aircraft, allowing consistent operations even in challenging weather conditions common to the region. Transportation options such as taxis and private vehicles are easily available outside the terminal, providing convenient access to Silchar and nearby towns. Overall, Silchar Airport may be modest in size, but it is critically important for regional connectivity, economic activity, and access to essential services in the Barak Valley.

Definitely, we Silcharians do not have other option and the airport is in A restricted area. So there are lots of restriction. Due to Indigo web update and flight crisis the Airport authority even did not ask anything to the crowd. Did not provide us chair too. Only the Indigo ground staff were helping us. A small airport under complete army control
