I had a wonderful experience at the Maati Centre in Uzan Bazar. I loved exploring the beautiful handmade crafts. I purchased a charming wooden toy and a lovely keychain, both of which are beautifully crafted. Highly recommend visiting for anyone who appreciates authentic Northeast Indian art and culture!

It's beautiful and a quaint place to see the various craft and craft traditions of north-east India. They have a good assorted collection of baskets, fabrics, books, furnishing, preserves and souvenirs. The items are priced reasonably for the effort put in for making the intricate work. They kept the store open past 7PM for me to shop. I would have liked that the staff knew a little bit more about the craft practices and people to enrich and make the experience educational. Kudos to the teams for building a much needed space.

Excellent selection of local textiles, carvings, paintings, teas and spices in quaint, traditional Assamese building. They even opened the shop on a Sunday for us (and were rewarded with a purchase)!

The main thing I liked is the store shifted underground... Feels amazing isn't? And many important books of mainly northeastern states are present... Those who are in the stream Arts must visit once...

Bogus review on Travel Triangle Total wastage of time. Will never go by recommendations of Travel Triangle

MAATI was vibrant and diverse as usual, maintaining (sometime with difficulty) the core values of what Assam means, and how it is a rare example of trying to keep the flag of diversity flying against many forces. In that very context it was by sheer luck that our visit coincided with a sort of festive, pre-christmas fete being held in its small courtyard. When I asked the founder (and mover of MAATI) about it, he simply said: just some young people having fun. Nice. That's how it should be. And ought to be. The difference from my last visit, which was in 2018, I think, was a wider collection of textile from all over the northeast, earlier it was more art centred ( in the traditional sense of the word art). My suggestion would be to keep the price tag on some of the items, for example, the ones by some other agencies, NGOs, should be kept on a check (e.g. each of the Little Naga collection costs 1500/-, if I remember correctly) -- the idea is not to give the impression that it's exclusive and elite, but rather that MAATI is meant as a forum that is inclusive, and it stands for a place not just to visit and procure, but to learn and to feel safe.

Colorful shop with an excellent collection of handloom, jewellery, artifacts from northeast india - primarily from Assam and Nagaland. You could be spending a long time here as there is so much to look at!

An absolutely beautiful shop with authentic arts and crafts from the Northeast. A lovely lady helped me pick the best items. Would definitely recommend visiting this shop!
