This is the largest field in Guwahati. The 2024-25 Saras Mela was held here. There was a lot of space for this event. Shops came here from all over India. There is a lot of support from the Government of Assam in organizing this event. There were also local dishes. There were also roasted pigs, roasted silk worms, chai wine and local wine also.

Its quite a big field. Earlier it was mostly used for playing footbal n cricket. We too have played here a couple of times over a decade ago. These days this field is being mostly used for organising big public events, Already Guwahati is devoid of good playing fields and parks, and such encroachment upon childrens' rights is not good. Every new apartment/society must be instructed to keep reserved area for a park/play area. I have seen this concept in developed towns in Delhi NCR, having stayed in one of them, i.e., Indirapuram.
