It’s hard to quantify the ratings for a disposal site. On one hand, it is very saddening to see so much garbage being dumped out in the open like that. It’s unsanitary beyond measures and has a very high potential of polluting environment and making people ill. It’s disheartening to see that rather than passing all the garbage through a proper waste processing facility, this is what’s being done. The site is also near Deepor beel bird sanctuary and the water runoff of this site can heavily damage the ecosystem of Deepor beel as well. However, the site is home to one of the last remaining endangered Greater Adjutant storks. One may go to the site on virtually any day from morning to evening and get to see these majestic birds standing in groups on top of the piles of garbage. Although it is very sad to witness that these huge beautiful birds have such a polluted site as one of their last remaining homes, it IS the current reality.

If you wanna know, where your/our trashes and disposal goes to, take a stroll through this place and see the condition of the place. Observe the people the people living near by. Take a look the huge garbage dump , which rising day after day. One the place, which Guwahati heavily depends on. And yeah Deepor Beel is futher ahead. :-P

A very pathetic site. Deteriorated conditions of living amidst the huge mountains of garbage that have piled up over the years. The stench is just unbearable. The garbage is not sorted and plastic pollution is clearly evident in the area. This is heavily affecting the Deepor beel which is just next to it.

Shocking garbage dump in Guwahati. Aghast how badly we treat our fellow men who work here. They do not even no gloves or protection of their respiratory system from the toxins around it. Contractors showcase to media they do, in reality they cut costs and open dump. Solid waste disposal is big business and lot of false and inflated bills are created in name of keeping Guwahati clean. The Guwahati Municipal Department is one of the most lucrative for a politician bureaucrats with its opportunity of making illegal money by creating, and disposing. I feel ashamed as an ordinary citizen we allow business, political, and bureaucracy unscrupulous nexus to get away in the gateway of North East India, Guwahati. Could not stay 10 minutes here. If this is not law-breaking do not know what is! And THIS IS LOCATED IN MIDDLE OF A PROTECTED WATER BODY DEEPOR BEEL. HERE 22 GREAT ADJUTANT STORK (most endangered of Storks) DIED IN THE WINTER MONTHS OF 2016.
