Kareng offers authentic Assamese cuisine, cooked to perfection. I visited with my family for lunch and started with the Crispy Chilly Baby Corn, which was a great choice. For the main course, we ordered Plain rice, Dal, Mixed vegetable, Kadai Paneer, Small fish fry, Goroi fish pitika, Pork with lai, and Duck with gourd. Every dish was prepared in a homestyle manner and truly delighted our taste buds. The duck, in particular, was exceptional. It’s definitely a great spot for a family outing if you’re craving authentic Assamese food. The staff was friendly and courteous, making our experience even more enjoyable. The interior is simple yet beautiful, creating a warm atmosphere. However, be aware that parking space is limited.

The variety of Assamese delicacies, from fresh fish preparations to rich duck curry and simple yet soulful rice thalis, feels both homely and royal. The service is equally commendable – the staff are polite, attentive, and always willing to explain the dishes to make sure you enjoy the experience fully. We had 2 veg thalis, pork in kareng style and pork dry fry. The items in the thali were really good and well prepared. Pork dry fry was exactly how i like it and the kareng style pork was surprisingly flavourful. It’s made with lil pithaguri and some normal spices. Very nicely blender overall. The quantity is great and value for money. Must try in Guwahati if you’re looking for good assamese thalis/food.

We wanted to try authentic assam food. So we stopped by on our way Food: really good, dry chicken was the highlight. Thalis were unique and we enjoyed our lunch . Service is good. They seem to have an all women serving staff, they were attentive and friendly. The disappointment came in when I peeked at their kitchen, it was after our meal and it left me hoping I don't fall sick. They have ample parking space in the property

I recently visited Kareng The Ahom Kitchen to try out some authentic Assamese cuisine, and the presentation truly lived up to its reputation. The traditional brass utensils, the well-balanced thali with a variety of local preparations, and the ambience together created a culturally rich dining experience. I ordered the Chicken with Sesame, but unfortunately, the waiter brought Pork with Sesame instead. I was quite tired that evening and didn’t want to create a scene, so I decided to stay quiet and go ahead with the meal. Despite the mix-up, the food was flavorful. Each item in the thali had its own character from the tangy pickles and lightly spiced veggies to the smooth textures of chutneys and lentils. The pork, although not what I ordered, was tender and rich, blending beautifully with the sesame based gravy. Service could definitely improve in terms of attentiveness and accuracy. For a place that prides itself on showcasing Assam’s culinary heritage, I hope such lapses are rare. Still, for those interested in exploring Assamese cuisine, Kareng remains a decent choice, just double check your order!

Hygienic and delicious Assamese food. Good ambiance. Friendly and helpful staff. Ample parking space. I loved the local chicken dry fry and pork dishes. Assamese veg thali is also very good. I visited the place three times last week; the food is so good. 👍
