Michinga continues to be one of those reassuring constants in Guwahati’s food scene, a restaurant that doesn’t chase novelty, but gets the fundamentals consistently right. This was my third visit here over a course of 3 years. This time, we ordered the Naga thali, a veg thali, and smoked pork on the side. The Naga thali was quietly impressive: layered flavours, balanced heat, and a sense of restraint that let the ingredients speak for themselves. Nothing felt rushed or overworked. The smoked pork deserves a special mention: deeply flavourful, tender, and unmistakably rustic. If anything, it just leaves you wishing for a little more of it, which is a good problem to have. The veg thali was comforting and clean, the kind of meal that feels both filling and thoughtful. No unnecessary embellishments, just well-made food that respects simplicity. What truly enriched the experience was the service. One of us was observing a strict saatvik diet ahead of a religious ceremony, and the way the restaurant handled it was quietly exceptional. The captain personally took charge, understood the requirements without needing repeated explanations, and ensured the kitchen prepared a separate meal—no onion, no garlic, no shortcuts. It didn’t feel like a favour; it felt like genuine care. That attention carried through the meal. The captain checked in at the right moments and made the table feel looked after without hovering. Michinga shines not because it’s trying to impress, but because it understands hospitality at a deeper level- respect for food, respect for people, and confidence in its own identity. You leave feeling nourished, heard, and already thinking about your next visit. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Michinga is my go to restaurent whenever i crave for a scrumptious naga thali, no doubt assamese thali is also great out there, but my personal fav will always be the naga thali, specially the pork both fresh and smoked, additionally the ambience, the food, the young youthful staff everything is a plus point, kudos!

The serve the best Assamese thalis. Every single dish was so delicious. It takes time but the wait is worth.

This restaurant in Guwahati offers an exceptional culinary journey that perfectly captures the heart of local flavors. The meal was a beautiful balance of tradition and taste, starting with a vibrant veg thali that felt like a comforting, home-cooked spread. Each element, from the light dal to the seasonal greens, served as the perfect foundation for the standout main courses. The duck was expertly prepared tender, rich, and infused with authentic spices while the fish was remarkably fresh, highlighting the delicate, earthy profiles that define the region's cuisine. With its warm hospitality and inviting atmosphere, this spot is a must-visit for anyone looking to experience an authentic and soul-satisfying taste of Assam.

Well I love visiting this place for its authentic dishes. I have been there a couple of times with family and friends. The staff is attentive. Service is sometimes little slow. I highly recommend both the assamese and naga thalis.

Food was absolutely amazing. Quick service, reasonable price for the food. Best for Pork Thali options

We had a very unpleasant experience at this restaurant. We ordered 2 duck thalis and 4 pork thalis. While the pork was fine, the duck was absolutely pathetic – the meat quality was very poor and to make it worse, we even found hair in the food. When I complained, instead of apologizing or handling it professionally, the staff asked me to “come to the side” to show them the hair, even though it was clearly visible in the photos I had already taken. Their behavior was extremely rude and dismissive, which made the experience even worse. I want to make it clear that I am not writing this because I didn’t want to pay – I paid the full bill despite everything. But the way the staff treated us was completely unacceptable. Good food and respectful service are the basics of any restaurant, and sadly, this place failed in both when it came to the duck thali and their staff’s attitude. Definitely not recommended.

Website / Google maps timings are false. We made the effort to try and fit in lunch before flying out. The politely unapologetic young man told us to come back after an hour, since they need to start We left, taking care not to trip over a huge rat that scurried across the path. Pity.
