Had to visit Guwahati for Kamakhya Temple, and since we were visiting temples for two days, we preferred vegetarian food, though I am not a vegetarian otherwise. Before travelling, I searched online for good veg restaurants nearby. Gopal Maharaj was highly rated, so we tried that first. The food there was decent. Later, while searching again, we came across Urban Desi Kitchen — and I must say, the food here was far better. Not that Gopal Maharaj’s food is bad, but Urban Desi Kitchen clearly stood out in terms of taste and overall experience. Maybe the former is an older restaurant and a bit overhyped — just my personal opinion. Every dish at Urban Desi Kitchen was excellent: • Chilly garlic potato — better than Gopal Maharaj • Mushroom masala — one of the finest I’ve had • Chilly garlic noodles — absolutely top notch • Chilly paneer — paneer was super soft and perfectly cooked • Lachcha paratha — excellent in taste and texture Overall, the food quality, taste, and presentation were outstanding. The experience was made even better by Ms. Pooja Rohila, the owner, who was personally present, very polite, and ensured excellent service. Without a doubt, Urban Desi Kitchen is one of the finest places to eat in Guwahati, especially for vegetarian food. Highly recommended.

It was a pleasant experience for a casual meal. The ambiance is cozy with a modern touch loved the wall decor with circular lights and the comfortable seating. The staff were friendly and attentive, which added to the welcoming vibe. I ordered a veg thali, which came with rice, dal, a paneer curry, salad with onion and green chili, & ordered a naan. The food was flavorful and well-spiced. The dal was comforting, and the naan was soft and fresh. The portion size was good for the price. The restaurant was clean, and the service was prompt. It’s a great spot for a quick, affordable vegetarian meal with family or friends. I’d rate it 5/5 solid food and ambiance. Will likely visit again to try more from their menu!

I have bought veg thali.. Food served hot hot . Daal is very good and the mix veg too.. But the rice quantity as a thali could be more .
