This shrine is the highlight of Hajo! Being a resident of Guwahati, visiting Poa Mecca was on the list from a very long time. Visited during the holy month of Ramadan and the experience was very calming and divine. The drive to the main shrine was really pleasant through the hills and the roads are really well built now (Had heard a lot about bad roads there) It is said that by offering prayers in this mosque, devotees gain one fourth of the good grace that they would have gotten in the main Mecca of Saudi Arabia.

Poa Mecca Dargah Sarif is a serene blend of faith and history. Often called the “Mecca of Assam,” it welcomes people of all religions to seek peace and blessings. Perched on a hilltop, the shrine offers silence, spirituality, and a rare sense of calm. The shrine was founded by the Sufi saint Hazrat Giasuddin Auliya of Iran, Whose devotion turned Poa Mecca into a beacon of peace and faith.

The Masjid was built in Ramadan 1067AH (June-July 1657 AD) during the reign of Emperor Shahjahan and the governoship of Prince Shuja, by Lutfullah Shirazi, Faujadar of Kamrup and Disciple of Saint Shah Niamatullah (as per archeological survey of India, Guwahati Circle)

I'm glad to visit such nice place. Since my childhood days I know this place but recently I got the opportunity to visit this Poa Mecca Dargah Sarif. Such a nice Dargah, well maintained, clean and peaceful place situated in a hill area. It is one of the popular as well as ancient religious place in Assam which symbolise harmony and peace.

The location is awesome on the hill top of Garurachal. Public transportation is not so frequent. We are tracking and hiking lover so decided not to wait for any vehicle. It became bless for us, because the weather was so awesome that day, we were walking with clouds. Finally we reached the dargah after a refreshing walk and the place was really Devine. Spent half an hour seating there and it was very peaceful.
