Despite my earlier communication with FSSAI regarding the matter of non providing of drinking water by the most of the restaurants in Guwahati, no steps have been taken to address the issue. During my recent visit many restaurants in Guwahati, I experienced a violation of basic customer rights. When I requested for normal drinking water, the staff refused to provide drinking water and insisted that I purchase a bottled water for Rs 10. As per government regulations, it is illegal for any food establishment to deny of giving drinking water to a customer who requests it. Customers should have the option to purchase bottled water if they choose, but the refusal to provide drinking water is a violation of established norms. Secondly, there is a serious concern regarding the lack of information on the manufacturing dates of sweets in many Sweet Shops in Guwahati. It is imperative for the well-being of consumers that the manufacturing date of food products, especially perishable items like sweets, is clearly mentioned. Some establishments resort to deceptive practices by putting small tags claiming that the sweets were made on the same day, which is misleading and amounts to cheating consumers. I hope that FSSAI will treat this matter with the urgency it deserves, and I look forward to seeing swift and effective action being taken to address these issues
