The property is located in the old area of Guwahati. You can walk and find a lot of eateries, market nearby. But reaching here can be task as this is an old area, it's mostly jammed. About the property - this is an old bungalow, maintained by care takers. It's beautiful from inside but I didn't find it worth the money they are charging for 1 night. In the rooms there is a list of rules mentioned which says - 1. No loud music, loud noise after 10 PM. Their own staff was sitting on the roof and was talking loudly at 11 PM. We had to ask them to be quiet. As this is a Homestay, one can easily listen to what's happening outside the room 2. In their rules/instructions it's also mentioned that breakfast starts at 7 AM. But actually the staff started serving st 8 AM 3. In the bathroom - the warm water speed is very very slow, it takes 20 min to fill the half bucket 4. The lamps in the room were not working, they had bulb but not functional 5. In breakfast the only option they had were bread and Omelette Charging 3k and not providing facilities of that level is something I didn't like as a customer. I felt like, I paid for the maintenance of their heritage property and not for the services.

We only stayed a night but had a lovely time. The house has a real old-style charm and is very comfortable. The staff was especially friendly. Particularly enjoyed the breakfast omelette cooked on the spot for us in the morning!|The room was quite big and kept very cool with own AC. The beds were comfortable as well. It took me a minute to figure out the shower, but still the rest was all great!

I stayed at this unique guest house in December 2025 as a solo female traveller from the UK. This felt like a home away from home owing to the warm hospitality, kindness, care and friendly yet professional atmosphere. The guest house is mainly run by two sisters and their aunt and they went out of their way to make me feel welcome, safe and comfortable and accommodated my needs. The food offered is homely, fresh, organic, seasonal, delicious, healthy and out of this world. One of my best meals of 2025. It is cooked with lots of love and served with care. A feast for all the senses. I felt very safe and at home here. The place has lots of lovely antique furniture and memorabilia belonging to the literary scholar and writer Professor Baruah.. Each room has a different decor and a unique character. They are spacious. The rooms and bathroom as well as the guest house in general was clean and fresh linen was provided. The bathrooms could be more updated/ modern. For a fee an airport pickup was arranged and the person who drove the car was wonderful, friendly and very well informed. One of the sisters was kind enough to even accompany me to the ma Kamakhya temple. However I realise that this was a very unique and exceptional gesture on her part and she had gone out of her way owing to her kindness. I am very indebted to them for this very grand and generous gesture where they went above and beyond any expectations. I am mentioning this because whilst this was a one off gesture it is indicative of the level of kindness and care extended by his unique family. Overall it was an experience that money cannot buy. If you are looking for excellent home cooked food served with love, a home away from home, safe and secure environment at a very reasonable price, genuine hospitality then this is a great place. It is like staying at a friends home rather than a swanky impersonal hotel. I also got to experience Assamese hospitality and culture and had some amazing conversations especially about the late Zubin Garg. I wish the hosts all the very best and I hope they grow from strength to strength. Thank you so much for everything. Wishing you all a fabulous 2026.

Baruha Bhavan is not just a place to stay; it is an experience that stays with you long after you leave. A gorgeous heritage home, impeccably maintained and aesthetically beautiful, surrounded by a serene, well-kept garden that instantly makes you feel at peace. Nestled right in the heart of the city, it offers the rare luxury of being both centrally located and wonderfully tranquil, with effortless accessibility to everything around. What truly sets Baruha Bhavan apart, however, is the people. The hosts are exceptionally kind, warm, and accommodating, so much so that they don’t feel like hosts at all, but family. The love and care shown by the two sisters, along with the gentle warmth of the mausi, made our stay incredibly special. And the food is pure magic. The home-cooked Assamese meals were soulful, authentic, and unforgettable. Every bite felt like a story, every meal like a celebration of culture and love. Baruha Bhavan isn’t just a must-visit. it’s a place where hearts connect, memories are made, and strangers leave as family. Highly recommended for anyone seeking beauty, comfort, culture, and genuine hospitality.

My stay at the guest house exceeded expectations. From the warm welcome on arrival to the smooth check-out, everything was perfect. The room was bright, well-furnished, and spotless. The common areas were peaceful, and the Wi-Fi worked perfectly. The famous Kamakhya Temple is nearby, and it’s easy to get autos, Ola, or Uber from here. The hosts were incredibly kind and made me feel like part of their family. I can’t complete this review without mentioning the food — it was absolutely delicious! The local Assamese dishes were an extraordinary experience. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for comfort, warmth, and a personal touch!

Baruah Bhavan By Axom inn heritage is an perfect place because it is a place where we can know about the past historical and cultural heritage information. Room have perfect AC, SmartTV, with table lamp and the furnitured , we can image about the past after seeing the furniture but they are very tight and fine finishing. This bhavan are managed by a lovely and caring family with delicious and tasty food with various types of food. It was managed only by three stronger, educated, responsible, measurable, lady.

My stay at Baruah Bhavan was an absolute delight! The property has a lovely heritage feel, with antique decor and peaceful surroundings. The hospitality was outstanding — the hosts made sure I was comfortable and guided me about nearby attractions. It felt less like a hotel and more like staying with family. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Guwahati!

We were there just for a night enroute to Arunachal. The place is lovely with lovely furniture. The highlight is Banita and her staff. They make you feel so welcome. Food is lovely and you need more than a day to experience the place
