Mezenga 2.0

Mezenga 2.0 has great vibes, visually pleasing, neat and cozy, perfect for solo stays and groups alike. The dorms are squeaky clean, air conditioned, bed sheets and blankets fresh and tidy, has reading lights adjacent to each bed. Western style clean toilets fitted with geyser. The kitchen allows you to sit down and have a food of your choice, served by the staff who are very cordial and jolly. You can hang out in the common room, read books, play games or strum the guitar. Or even stroll along the balcony that rings the property. Feels more like a safe comfy homestay and less like a business hotel. And of course all these at a decent price in the heart of the city, the Beltola region. Two steps away is bustling market, (don’t worry, the morning noise do not reach into the rooms) countless eateries and almost everything that you could possibly need on a vacation. So, need some quiet on a quick business trip? Group of friends out on your long planned tour? Solo backpacker looking for a nightstay? Or just a biker couple ready to head out into the horizon next morning? Nothing’s better than here. Oh btw, you can totally come on a bike like me, they have a little parking space in the basement.

2 nights and 2 mornings here, sounds of different birds fill the environment as you wake up and also when dusk approaches, noise from the streets are minimal, the large bedroom I stayed in had a nice view, just a couple of meters to the west there’s a lovely farm (orchard plus duck rearing activity) can be seen from the window. Pleasant environment in and around overall. May I also add the staff are very responsive and polite, they tend to your needs very quickly if you have any.

This is the premium backpacking hostel opened recently in Guwahati and construction was still going on for one more floor. Cafe wasn’t operational at the time I visited in December. But the dorm rooms and all were nice clean plus good wifi connection. Prices were pretty reasonable considering it’s a new property.

Worst travel experience ever. We booked Mezenga for a 10-day trip to Meghalaya after clearly sharing all the places we wanted to visit, but the itinerary they created was extremely poorly planned—many of the mentioned places were not even on the route to the destinations, making the entire trip chaotic and mismanaged. We specifically asked for 4–5 star hotels and were charged a very high amount for the same, but after taking a hefty advance, they suddenly informed us that the hotels were unavailable and forced us to change them, increasing the price further by claiming that everything was booked. In reality, most of the hotels we were provided were not even 1-star properties; only 2 hotels in the entire trip were decent, while the rest were absolutely pathetic. They even changed a hotel in which they had supposedly booked us for 4 days in the middle of the trip, claiming that the booking was cancelled from the hotel’s side, and instead shifted us to an even worse homestay, not even a proper hotel. This happened at multiple locations—our hotels were changed repeatedly, and we were lied to by saying the property was either fully booked or the same as earlier, whereas in reality the accommodations provided were completely different and far inferior to what we were promised. When we showed them photos and videos of the rooms, their response was extremely unprofessional—they said this is how the rooms are and that they only book hotels based on Google images, which is completely unacceptable for a so-called travel agency. The driver provided was another major issue—he never drove above 40 km/h, lacked basic driving skills, and was not cooperative at all, especially when we wanted to adjust the itinerary by skipping or adding places. Despite charging us an extremely high per-person amount, Mezenga did not make bookings for important experiences like the Kamakhya Temple. Even worse, after many days of advance payment, they suddenly told us that the Kaziranga elephant safari was not possible as everything was booked, but continued lying till the last day saying they were “trying,” while pressuring us to clear the balance payment. Once we paid the full amount, the elephant safari was never booked. During the trip, when we complained about the terrible rooms and services, they went to the extent of instructing the driver not to move the car, which was shocking and highly unprofessional. The hotel rooms, breakfasts, driver behavior, and overall service were all below standard. After receiving the balance payment, they stopped answering our calls and replying to messages altogether. Mezenga has extremely poor hospitality, dishonest communication, zero accountability, and offers the worst travel service we have ever experienced. I would strongly advise people to stay away from this company.

I had a great stay at Mezenga 2.0! The check-in and check-out process was completely hassle-free, which made everything super convenient. The location is well-connected, with easy access to public transport, so getting around was no problem at all. The property is well maintained, clean, and comfortable. I also met some really nice people in the dorm, which made the experience even better. Overall, a smooth and pleasant stay - definitely recommend!

Absolutely loved my stay. Big common space, a kitchen and dinning area is there. Toilet is there. Staffs are very helpful. Will feel like home. Dorm beds are very much comfortable. Surely will recommend my friends to stay.

This hostel impressed me with its exceptional food—easily deserving five stars. Every meal felt thoughtfully prepared and full of flavor. The rooms were comfortable, clean, and well-maintained, earning a solid four stars. While the location is a bit farther from the airport than ideal, making it about a three-star convenience, the overall experience was still very positive. If you value great dining and cozy accommodations, this hostel is definitely worth considering for your next stay.

More than anything, the hosts are very nice and helpful. The washroom needs a bit more attention but otherwise everything good. Good price, location and ambience. Wifi works much better. If you are in Guwahati and near Khanapara, feel free to book this. ❤️
