I recently stayed at this hostel in Guwahati and had a really great experience. It’s a very good place to stay, whether you’re traveling solo or with friends. The bunk beds are comfortable and well-maintained, making it perfect for backpackers. The common washrooms are clean and properly maintained, which is very important in a hostel stay. They also have a nice common area where you can relax, sit, and interact with other guests. I personally stayed in the suite room, and it was excellent. The room was spacious, very comfortable, and even had a balcony, which made the stay even better. It felt private and peaceful. Another big plus point is that they provide both car parking and bike parking, which is very convenient for travelers coming by their own vehicle. The owner and the entire team are very nice, friendly, and pleasant. Their hospitality made the stay even more comfortable. I will definitely stay here again whenever I come back to Guwahati. Highly recommended!

I stayed at Ghotul for 3 nights. The place is run by Shivani, a very good friend of mine from my college days at IIT Kharagpur. The vibe at Ghotul is amazing - filled with nostalgia from the 90s with its humble architechture, tucked away in a quite lane but easily accessible to the main streets, mall and eateries by foot. I love how I got the chance to meet people from so many different backgrounds who came to Ghotul for one purpose - finding a home away from home. Cooking and chilling together with other guests in the evening is the best part of the stay. People are very respectful of the 10 pm no loud music restriction and cleanliness of the common spaces. Couples can also opt for the private room options, if the hostel situation is not your cup of tea. We made a few short trips around, to Kamakhya Devi temple ( about 20mins by auto) and Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary (about 1hr by car). Do try the Missing thali, it is close to Ghotul about 800m by foot. The hostel is also very safe for female travellers. Shivani is extremely welcoming to her guests and likes to be part of the interactions / jamming sessions in the common space during the evenings. You can also ask her for local recommendations of food, day-trips and shopping places. I would l highly recommend staying here if you are coming to Guwahati solo or in a group, either for a night or a few days to explore the Northeast.

I stayed at the “Ghotul Hostel &Homestay” in Guwahati for three nights. The hosts welcomed us with a warm smile, fresh Air, and a cozy blanket on a chilly evening. My room was clean, with a big party hall that offered stunning sunrise views over the terrace. #What I loved - Friendly, attentive family who shared local tips and cooked delicious homemade meals. Self cooking - Comfortable bed and fast Wi‑Fi, perfect for catching up on travel logs. - Scenic spot just a short walk from the trailhead. Overall, the homestay felt like staying with relatives—welcoming, authentic, and a great base for exploring the region. Highly recommended for travelers seeking a personal touch. 🌄

I had a wonderful stay at Ghotul Hostel. It truly stands out as one of the best hostels in the entire Assam state. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and perfect for both solo travellers and groups. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, always ready to assist with anything you need. Their hospitality makes you feel at home from the moment you arrive. The rooms are clean, the vibe is peaceful, and the overall experience is incredibly comfortable.

I want to give a bad review about this hostel. The owner behaves very badly. If you stay there for a long time, there are always issues with the rent and unexpected problems. If you say anything about it, her way of speaking is very rude and disrespectful. I have never seen such bad behavior from a hostel owner. On the surface, she acts very sweet, but from inside her thinking and attitude are very low. She pretends to be one thing on the outside and something completely different on the inside.

Nice hostel in a very underappreciated part of India. The service was great, Dipu and the lady (can't remember her name) are helpful and friendly. The hostel attracts locals who just come to chill out, as well as many travellers so you meet a wide range of people. A few improvements-the bathroom could do with a bit of an upgrade, and there's nowhere to sit in the chill out area which isn't on the floor - tables and chairs would be nice. As a side note, the location is pretty far from the main bazaars in Guw, about 20 minutes by Uber or Rapido.

I had a one-night stopover in Guwahati and stayed here. This is one of the most comfortable and hygienic hostels I’ve stayed in. I slept so peacefully in my bunk bed. The price is very affordable — around 5 USD (400 INR) — and they provide good bedding, an air-conditioned dorm room, hot water, and Wi-Fi. Choosing this place over hotels is a no-brainer. The staff are very welcoming, and Ms. Sonali is professional and polite at the front desk, helping me with all my queries. If I ever come back to Guwahati I would stay here!!!

I stayed at Ghotul Backpackers Hostel in Guwahati and honestly, it was such a beautiful experience. Dipankar and Ruhul took amazing care of me, and the owners Shivani and Rahul were super warm and welcoming. I had so many meaningful conversations, played fun games, and met different kinds of people. It was a totally different and memorable experience. I’ll always remember my time at Ghotul. Thank you, everyone! 💛
