Lalmati Durga Temple, one of the oldest temples in Guwahati, Assam, is a site of deep historical and spiritual significance. Situated near Basistha and the revered Nilachal Hills, this temple is dedicated to Goddess Durga and is believed to date back to the 9th–10th century. It holds immense cultural value, drawing devotees and history enthusiasts alike. The temple is surrounded by intriguing ancient ruins, known as the Lalmati-Batashila archaeological site. These ruins consist of massive stone structures, pillars, and remnants of an ancient temple complex. Historians and archaeologists speculate that the temple was either destroyed by a natural calamity, such as an earthquake, or abandoned due to some unknown reason. Despite this, the site continues to exude a divine aura, making it a place of reverence and mystery. The Lalmati Durga Temple is an important pilgrimage site, especially during Durga Puja, when devotees gather to seek blessings. The serene environment, coupled with the temple’s historical charm, makes it a must-visit destination for those exploring Assam’s rich heritage. Easily accessible from the city, the temple is a great spot for meditation and spiritual reflection. Whether one visits for devotion, historical interest, or simply to experience the peaceful ambiance, the Lalmati Durga Temple remains a treasured landmark in Guwahati, preserving Assam’s ancient religious traditions.

This an place for business, less puja more bussines. Late night party, disturbing music late night. All kind of party-Birthday party, Marriage Party, Expo and many more. Temple is an place to worship for peace of mind. But it is an bussiness source of income for committee. Birthday party or marriage party music in community hall is acceptable if that hall has sound proof wall or close concrete room. But this durga mandir has erected temporary tent out of cloth for all those party/programme
