On 5th of Feb, 2022 a long awaited dream of entire SHIVA BHAKTAS has been accomplished. The PASHUPATINATH MANDIR has been successfully erected and inaugurated at PASHUPATI NAGAR, GUWAHATI-29. The programme of Pran Pratistha was celebrated with much fanfare following all the guidelines imparted by the administration. The history of PASHUPATINATH MANDIR dates back from a general meeting held in presence of more than 70 nos.residents of Brihattar Basistha area on 2nd Dec 2012, which unanimously decided to construct a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Further, the Ad-hoc committee had passed a resolution to name the mandir as PASHUPATINATH MANDIR. The very first foundation pillar was laid on 22nd May, 2013, in the presence of SHIVA BHAKTAS from entire Basistha area. Architecture of PASHUPATINATH MANDIR: The mandir is built in the contemporary pagoda style of architecture with two-level roofs. It has four main doors, and inside of which there is Garbhagriha or Sanctum Sanctorum where the idol is placed. The look of the mandir has been sybolised with the famous Pashupatinath Mandir of Kathmandu. Deity: The sacro sanctum, or the main idol, is a black stone carved Shivalinga with four faces inscribed in it and have a yoni base bound with a serpent. It has faces in four directions, which represent various aspects of Shiva; Sadyojata (also known as Barun), Vamadeva (also known as Ardhanareshwara), Tatpurusha, Aghora, and Ishana (imaginative). Each face has tiny protruding hands holding rudraksha mala in the right hand and a kamandalu (water pot) in the other. The idol made up of black stone of Dolpa region of Nepal has been carved and given a very devinely look by the traditional artsans of Kathmandu. The main deity is accompanied by his family consisting of LORD GANESHA, LORD KARTIKEYA, GODDESS PARWATI and Mata Durga inside the main temple. Outside of the Garbagriha an idol of LORD HANUMAN and Nandi, the sacred bull of the god Shiva have been placed. Festivals: We celebrate many festivals like Saraswati Puja, MahaShivaratri, Durga Puja, Lakhi Puja are prominent of all. First Maha Shivaratri After Pran Pratistha: The first mahashivaratri after Pran Pratistha was celebrated night long ritual in “CHAR-PRAHAR” from the evening of 01st March to early morning of 2nd March. The people attached with this Mandir feel very blessed and hope that they shall be able to spread love, brotherhood and prosperity in this days of hardship amd carry forward the legacy of Hinduism with true spirit in future.
