Sītala Devī (শীতলা দেবী) is a Hindu folk goddess mainly worshipped in Bengal, Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh and parts of Rajasthan. Her name “Śītalā” literally means “the cool one” or “the one who soothes.” She is traditionally associated with diseases such as smallpox, chickenpox, measles and fevers — believed to both cause and cure them. She is also considered a guardian goddess of children and of the household. She is usually depicted: Riding a donkey Holding a broom, a winnowing fan, a pot of cooling water, and sometimes neem leaves (all linked with purification and cooling). -------------- Before modern medicine, communities saw smallpox/chickenpox as a manifestation of Sitala Devi’s power. Worshipping her was believed to prevent epidemics or make the disease milder. Offerings are typically cooling foods (rice, yogurt, sweets), not hot or spicy foods, reflecting her “cooling” aspect.

This temple was established in 1967 and it is very peaceful . *Not allow to wear black dress for both male and female * Parsadam /Bhog was given on Tuesday & Saturday *

Sitala Mandir & Durga Mandir, it's very nice Mandir. The Puja starts from 12 pm.. But mostly people gathered every Tuesday & Saturday 12 pm to 2 pm.

One of the holiest places in Guwahati and guaranteed recommend to visit for religious person as well as normal folk. Maa Sheetala is also called Sitala, Sitala Mandir was established on 1967 at the Railway Colony, after some years the Mandir is beautifully constructed along with a Maa Durga Mandir in the same premises.. Maa Sitola as an incarnation of Supreme Goddess Durga, cures poxes, sores, ghouls, pustules and diseases.. Maa Sitala is worshipped on the occasion of Sheetala Asthami, every year after the festival of Holi on the 8th day.. Apart from that Devotees come everyday nd pray to Maa for their health.. The Mandir area is big enough for prayers, nd also there is an extra area in the premises for giving offerings, sitting nd relaxing.. There is also a Sani Mandir attached to the Sitala Mandir Premises which was established on 1969..

Shitala Devi mandir is very beautiful place to offer puja. But the authorities are looting people. In the name of prasad they charge Rs 200 but give only a bowl of payesh/ mishtanna. I was expecting rice and other simple veg items as per the price. The priest was again demanding dakshina at the time of giving prasad. Never experienced such things before in any temple.
