Sohra (Cherrapunjee) Sumo Stand

This place is really good and convenient if you want to travel from Shillong to Chirapunjee or other places. The fare is reasonable and lot of vehicles available. The place itself is maintained well although it's in an old building. One big drawback is finding the place. If you're new to Shillong, it takes forever to reach this place even with maps as it's located in the first floor. Localites or the taxi drivers don't help in finding the place either. And most of all, Sunday is holiday. No way you can travel on a Sunday cheap.

Just get in the car park and you'll easily find the sumo to cherrapunji

Place is very congested, dirty with odur of very bad from the side drains and no maintance or cleanesa from the govt authority.

It was nice and warm place, Beautiful to view for plain Areas like Bangladesh. Heavy rainfall during monsoon and creat many attractive waterfall and caves. Very Good place to visit.

Get shared passenger Sumo or Tourist Taxis to the main Sohra (Cherrapunjee) Market. Charges by Tourist Taxi (seating capacity 5) is Rs. 200 per head and by Sumo (seating capacity 11) is Rs. 150 per head. You can just head to this Sumo stand and get a sumo/tourist taxi. Vehicles are available from around 6 in the morning till evening 4-5pm. Availability of vehicles is a little scanty towards the evening from 4:30pm onwards. These would be a good for budget travellers.

A very unclean , unhygienic and unorganised place. Although the drivers and operators are helpful, the lack of signboards make this place very confusing to manoeuvre. The approach road (through Iew [bazaar] is very crowded and the olace is stained with kwai (paan) and stinks if urine. Rates are not specified. As of Nov 2022, it is Rs150 per seat for the yellow Tata Sumo vehicles, which accommodate 11-12 people. If you want to travel in a bit more comfortable manner, there are small cars available for Rs200 per seat. They can only accommodate 4 passengers. If you have extra luggage, you can book an additional seat.
