we planned a week program in Guwahati, Shillong and Cheerapunji. coordinated transport with Joydeb and he gave us a very good well maintained Toyota Innova. starting from day 1 pick up from Guwahati until the end, transport were coordinated professionally. We spent 8 Days with Jay Dev Bhai on our Tawang circuit starting from Gauhati, Assam. Initially, I was a little skeptical about a few things in my head based on previous experiences in the past with other drivers. Today, when I am writing this review, I would proudly call Jay Dev (Da) as a good friend and a brother without any hesitations! He was so helpful, calm, cheerful, humble, patient, empathetic, knowledgeable, and very well versed with places to see and experience. He exactly knew where we could go and do what, based on his own experiences. Driving in the hills at that height isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but he handled it like a pro. I would encourage to plan your trip based on his suggestions because he knows the North-East region very well. If not, you can leave it Jay Dev, he will surely come up with a lot of options in terms of places to stay, see, and experience as per your budget and needs. All you need to do is pick and choose. Additionally, we ended up having a blessed darshan of Maa Kamakya Devi too as per his planning and suggestion. A perfect and expert tour planner with loads of contacts in the entire North-East. His car was tidy, well maintained, and made our journey a safe and a memorable one! Meanwhile on our trip, we got to meet one of his customers who were travelling with Anu Travels with another driver under Jay Dev and they too expressed a lot positives about his staff within his fleet of cabs of Anu Tours and Travels. Whenever I visit the North-East, I am surely going back with Jay Dev and will book my dates as per his availability. Jayadev runs his own taxi service, and honestly, he was one of the best parts of our trip. From day one, he gave us complete space. He worked entirely according to our timing and never rushed us, never pushed us to start early, and never made us feel like we were on someone else’s schedule. He would suggest what might be best to do or see, but never once forced an idea on us. The choice was always ours. One thing that really stood out was how comfortable his presence felt. You can play your own music in his car, sit quietly, talk among yourselves and it genuinely feels like you’re travelling with your own people. When you want to talk, he’s there. When you don’t, it feels like he’s not even in the car. I was travelling with my wife, and we felt complete privacy throughout the journey, which is very rare when you’re on a long road trip with a taxi service. He knows the routes beautifully. Not just scenic stops, but also the right places for tea, food, and breaks. And he always goes the extra mile. One night, we realised we didn’t like the hotel we had booked. It was late, but Jayadev patiently drove us around, back and forth, checking multiple places until we found something we were comfortable with. Not once did he complain or make it feel like an inconvenience. Another thing I truly respected is that even when we offered him food or tea, he always took care of himself. He never wanted to come in our way or intrude on our time. He doesn’t expect meals, stays, or any extras from you. He is just there to make your journey smooth and comfortable. And then comes the biggest surprise. His pricing. I spoke to several taxi operators before finalising, and Jayadev’s rate was the most economical by far. No hidden costs, no drama, no last-minute changes. We travelled with him for eight days across Assam and Meghalaya. Umiam Lake, Shillong, Dawki, Mawlynnong, the root bridges, Weisawdong, Cherrapunji, and many more places. Looking back, the trip felt surreal, and a big reason for that was him.
