Uptown Smart Hostels

Management so bad that it's off the charts. Gave security payment and when it's time to return it, as per their contract,they didn't return it to me and are avoiding for the last year. Food is worst. Worst experience of my life. Thre should be a negative star option for these kind of places

Don't come to this hostel . They are engaging in fraudulent activities affecting students.It has already been 6 to 7 months but they haven't returned my security money (11000) . i called the uptown administration and inform to the founder of the uptown hostel (Sandeep rajkhowa) but haven't found a solution. Thank you

Stayed in Uptown for 11months without bothering the management for any issues. Now the management is not refunding the security deposit according to the agreement . According to the agreement security money is refundable within 45days of leaving the hostel premises if not found with any issues with the hostel property. Now it's been 3months I left the hostel but no refund of the security deposit even after repeatedly asking for the refund. They say it's under process. Refund processing takes this long. Now the management has stopped receiving my calls and replying to my messages. This issue is not only with me but with many other borders.

Stayed here for 2 weeks. Location is good with peaceful environment. Might be a good place for students but not for working people. It is not as clean as it ought to be. You have to insist to have the room cleaned. The rooms and bathroom are bit dilapidated. The rules are pretty rigid and difficult to follow. For example the in time is 9:30 and if you come after that you won't be let in come what may. Every time you go out and come in you have to sign in a register ( don't know why they still call themselves smart hostel). Food was okay but they are very strict with the quantity. Like they will keep an eye on how much food you are taking into your plate. This is bit weird and humiliating. They don't give spoon so you have to bring one for yourself. When I joined they didn't even give me a cup for having tea and asked me to have tea in a bowl instead ( katori). I would say that you can stay here if don't mind being under strict surveillance and feel humiliated.

They guaranteed to refund the security deposit 45days after leaving the pg it's already 3.5 months but they haven't refunded still now. And when we tried to contact them they don't respond to any of our calls or they are delaying it Unsatisfied with the management. When it's time for us to pay the monthly payment they take within 1 week and if it's late they take late fees. But now they are taking too much time to give us security money. Very unprofessional .

(1)SCAMMER HOSTEL, they will rob you of your money and if you try to confront them they will give every possible excuse available under the sun. (2)FOOD IS WORST, I once had food poisoning after eating their food and had to get myself checked at GNRC emergency ward at six mile branch,when complained they said 'oh you're just suffering from gas', as if they're more qualified than doctors. (3) There is always some kind of noise going on either it will be from the school downstairs or from some sort of construction. NOT IDEAL FOR STUDENTS. (4)All the 5 star reviews that they show on Google is forced by the warden upon the tenant after you join their hostel...other reviews which have 1 or 2 stars are the real reviews....if the reviews are changed when a tenant is still in their property they will force you to change it back to 5 stars. Now please don't give excuses under the post that I wasn't from your hostel or something and these are not true allegations or something , I have many proofs that I can attach here that I lived there!

BEWARE OF THIS PG FROM HELL!!!! Please don't ever ever go to this pg!!!! This is the worst pg I have ever ever come across in my entire life!!!!! On the outside it looks great due to their fancy advertising. Looking at pics they upload on their website I was also attracted to it. But all the troubles start the moment you start saying in the pg.There are sooo many things wrong with the pg- 1. The food is horrible. It tastes like garbage. Most of the times they serve food that is many many days old. The rice tastes like sand and I got sick many times while eating the pg food. Even if you complain nothing will change. 2. The owner of this pg is the worst human ever. She is very very bossy, proud and arrogant human being I have ever met. She doesn't take any complaints into consideration and she never ever listens to any issues. 3. Pg owners are masters in scamming. When I contacted this pg, they kept rushing and rushing me to book a room saying that there are only 1/2 rooms available and the rest are booked. But it is the biggest lie ever!!!!. There are soo many empty rooms which are just lying there vacant..unused for months. They also give false promise saying you can change rooms anytime. But once you request, they they will never allow you saying that all rooms are booked. But the truth is that there are are sooo many empty rooms. 4. The warden is also very rude and strict. She always watches guard over you as if you are in jail. I honestly felt like I was in jail the whole time I was staying in this pg 5. There are sooo many rules and regulations I felt like I was living in jail. Even for some simple things you have to ask permission by writing a letter to the management. These are just some of the many issues I faced while staying in this hell pg. If you want to maintain your sanity, please don't ever go to this pg. There are so many better pgs out there in Guwahati. Do not be fooled by their fancy advertising and all. My best advice: Just stay away from this pg!!
