Once you enter the restaurant, you immediately feel like you are in Bangalore or some place in South India. The place is very well made. The colours, simple design makes you feel comfortable. It’s kept clean and the staff is very friendly. The food is very close to the taste you get in Bangalore. I had lemon rice, benne dosa and coffee. The pricing is on the higher side for the quantity provided.

Ambience is nice! The restaurant isnt very big yet the interior is done well. The service is okay. The staff is well informed with the menu. For the food- the onion bhaji was crispy and fragrant with curry leaves. However, the chutneys werent “punchy”. It lacked seasoning and i somehow was confused with the red chutney flavor. I could taste tomato as well as little bit of peanut. The benne podi masala dosa was okay. Lacked the pungent fermented taste. I have had better dosas at different places in Guwahati. They need to work on the sambhar and the chutneys. The Thatte Idli (for some reason the servers were unwilling to serve it and kept giving us many excuses, after insisting a lot, they agreed on it) was good (lacked fermentation) but lacked the oomph. For drinks it was fresh lime soda which again i wasn’t sure if they gave me water or soda. Their PODI, SAMBHAR and CHUTNEYS need work!!!!

We had ordered ghee roast masala dosa, onion tomato uttapam, ghee podi idli, and two filter coffees. The dosa was really good—thick and crispy, not the paper-thin kind. The potato masala was decent, but the chutneys were excellent and clearly the highlight. What disappointed me big time was the sambar. It had an artificial sour taste, almost no vegetables, and honestly felt like an afterthought. I’d rate it 0.5/5, which is unfortunate because good sambar can elevate the entire meal. The idli was another letdown. I expected it to be much softer, but it turned out slightly hard. On top of that, the ghee quantity was too less—it wasn’t poured generously as one would expect for ghee podi idli. The uttapam tasted good, but the menu is very limited—only onion tomato uttapam is available, which feels restrictive. I wanted to have just onion uttapam but they said no to that, they could have told me that they can make that because all you have to do is not put tomatoes. Ambience-wise, the place feels nice and has a proper South Indian vibe. However, one small thing stood out: when we entered, the manager was folding tissues while sitting at the desk. That’s something better done inside or at a different time, especially when customers are walking in. Overall, I might visit again only for the dosa, but that too if the sambar improves, because sambar is non-negotiable in a South Indian meal. Feedback for the owner: If you ever need someone to guide the kitchen team on how to make a proper, balanced sambar, I’d genuinely be happy to help. Also, adding poha/chiwda to the idli batter will make the idlis much softer and improve texture significantly. The place has good potential—just needs a few important fixes.

Not gonna lie.. the ambience here actually takes you somewhere to the south of India. The location is easily accessible too. About the food, I tried out the Benne Podi Masala Dosa and Ghee roast Masala Dosa . Both were good..but if you like your dosas thin and crispy and not fluffy, please don’t order them. The sambhar was very authentic too! Overall a good experience!!

Taste wise it's good enough, not that great. But yes the quantity is extremely extremely less so if you're hoping to go for proper lunch then either you need to order multiple dishes all at once or stay hungry. The decor is good but not the outside seating area, feels really weird and kind of dirty as well. Indoor seating is nice, service is well behaved and on time. Tomato rice wasn't right amount of tangy, and vada was okay. Rest of the dishes were good enough, not laudable but not bad either.

The Restaurant serves a limited menu. But all the Menu items are worth a try. The Ghee Podi Thate Idli and the Ghee Masala Podi Benne are the must try dishes here. Ambience is good. The service is slightly slow but it is acceptable as the benne needs sufficient time to become crisp and perfect . The filter coffee is priced very high. You can get a similar filter coffee at any other south Indian restaurant in Guwahati at almost half the rate.

Guwahati has very few places where you get authentic South Indian Food and BLR Express is one of it. One should definitely try their Benne Masala Dosa and Filter Coffee. The overall experience was lovely, would definitely recommend it.

Finally a great South Indian space in Guwahati! Tried BLR Express recently and absolutely loved it! The masala dosa was crisp and delicious, and the idli was fresh and flavorful. The sambar and chutneys tasted authentic and well-balanced. Loved their filter coffee — rich and aromatic. Staff were polite and service was quick. A must-visit for South Indian food lovers in Guwahati!
