Guwahati is left with very few playgrounds and it is one of the most iconic one. Cricket and other sports are being played here. And at the time of Bihu the functions are being held and Durga Puja during Puja season. The place is always filled with crowd and reminds of old days when we used to play cricket at full swing.

One of the oldest Bihu Festivals of Guwahati. The place is a part of history itself and boasts of grand Bihu festivities including performances by renowned artists, dance troupes, local and folk dances and folk performances. Don't miss out on the street food it has to offer

Well usually it's a Place Of Pride for all the local dwellers !! The Globally renowned Bihu is celebrated with all its glory and Pride and the oldest of all Bihu celebration locations of the city!! But stages of sometimes finicky temporary constructions are like a decade old still done with bambos so it sad the committee should take proper care or even lay some groundwork for something permanent cause it's our pride we need to look after it! & Usually it's a playground cricket coaching field for the young ones...

Formed in the 1900s after covering pond, it is one of the oldest playgrounds in Assam. The field has made immense contribution to the sports scenario of Guwahati. Early morning, you can see it packed with young boys, playing cricket, football and runners doing rounds of the field. It is located in Uzan Bazar area, one of the oldest areas of the city. The field hosts Rongali Bihu functions and its a must visit place during Bihu celebrations.

Latasil Field: My introduction to this field is very interesting. At that time no cricket was played at Rehabari. Since I had a cricket bat and a ball, I used to play in our compound with a few friends. One day my cousin, Late Amal Choudhury of Jorpukhuri, saw me playing cricket and hired me for his club in Jorpukhuri to play against a team from Bharalumukh at Latasil Field. The wicket was a bald strip that was heavily watered and bowling was allowed from one end only. Each team had one pair of pads and two pairs of batting gloves. One pair of wicket keeping gloves was meant for use by both teams. The two playing batsmen had to share one paid of pads; the other pair was used by the wicket-keeper of the fielding side. There were no abdomen guards and the ball used was a new red cherry. We batted first on this dangerous wicket trying to save ourselves from injury more than scoring runs. We were all out for 18 of which I scored 9 remaining not out. The other team scored the required 19 runs losing 6 wickets. But the real fallout of the match was that I became a cricketer from the table tennis player that I was. I was asked to join the school net practices the very next day and my cricket career started in class VIII with the score of 9 not out at Latasil! No wonder I am still sentimental about this field!
