Mahaprabhu Sri Sri Janardhan Devalaya

Such a peaceful place on the banks of the mighty Bramhaputra River in Guwahati. Visited this place specially to see the Vishnu Janardan group of rock cut sculptures. It is in a hidden corner behind the Janardan Devalaya on the banks of the Brahmaputra. Made by the ancient Pala Dynasty in the 9th Century who ruled Kamarupa (Ancient Guwahati) before the famous Ahom dynasty of Assam. It contains 6 carvings in granite rock face of Vishnu, Siva, Durga, Kartikeya, Ganesha and Surya with Vishnu as the largest carving in between. The carvings of Siva, Durga and Kartik seems comparatively recent and are of poorer workmanship when compared to the much finer and detailed carvings of the Vishnu, Surya and Ganesha statues.

It's a well maintained, clean and beautiful temple situated by the river Brahmaputra near Paanbajar. It's also known as the Sukreswar temple. Both are within the same campus. It's a very good place to organise wedding, shraddha, annaprasanna etc. at a relatively very small budget.
