Chattrakar Devalaya: One of the lesser known temples built by Ahom Kings in Guwahati. Built on an umbrella shaped hill on the banks of the Brahmaputra river, it is a Triple temple of Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu and Devi Mangalchandi in Udan Bazar area, built by Ahom King Koneswar Singha in 1721 rebuilt after an earthquake in 1897. Now under the protection of the Archeological Directorate of Assam. Very peaceful place for meditation. Located very near to Brahmaputra river. Can see Umananda from here. Parking problem. There is no place to park cars or bikes.

The Chatrakar Mangalchandi Temple is one of those rare cultural gems that beautifully blends folklore, faith, and local heritage into a single sacred space. Located in a quiet, traditional setting, the temple carries an aura that immediately draws devotees and visitors into its spiritual warmth. Unlike many larger shrines known for their grandeur, this temple stands out for its intimate charm, community-centered worship, and the deep-rooted traditions associated with the Goddess Mangalchandi—revered as a powerful protector and benevolent mother. As one approaches the temple, the first impression is the sense of serenity that surrounds the area. The gentle sounds of devotional chants, the fragrance of burning incense, and the sight of vibrant offerings create a peaceful and immersive environment. The temple architecture, though modest, has a distinctly local appeal, reflecting the craftsmanship and aesthetic sensibilities of the region’s traditional artisans. The sanctum, with its idol of Mangalchandi, exudes an energy that feels both calming and empowering. What makes the Chatrakar Mangalchandi Temple particularly special is its strong connection with local cultural practices. Rituals here often reflect age-old customs passed down through generations. Festivals dedicated to the goddess transform the temple into a vibrant cultural hub, bringing together families, elders, and children in collective celebration. Devotees speak highly of the priests who guide visitors with kindness and clarity, helping them understand the significance of each ritual. The temple premises are well-maintained, with a clean courtyard and spaces for quiet reflection. Overall, a visit to the Chatrakar Mangalchandi Temple is not just a religious outing but an experience of community, tradition, and spiritual grounding. Whether one comes seeking blessings, cultural insight, or simply a moment of inner peace, the temple leaves a lasting and heartfelt impression.

There is ample of space for various functions. Seating arrangement is also good. They provide fooding and catering services as well which is good. Moreover the temple is clean and the surrounding is quite and you get a good view of the mighty Brahmaputra from the temple.
